AH wrote on completion of her Intermediate 3 Course, Jan - Feb 2018: During this course we have been looking at Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) which is still about making art with patterns but the art may have a specific orientation and may be representational. It's very exciting to learn about this sort of art where everyone can be successful in being creative. We are sticking to a mindful approach in an atmosphere of support from our peers and an excellent teacher.
MG wrote on completion of her Intermediate 1 Course Nov 2017 - Jan 2018: I look forward to each session which enables me to relax, be totally absorbed and focused on the present moment. Absolutely amazing !
AH wrote on completion of her Intermediate 2 Course Nov/Dec 2017: I've continued to learn how to create patterns. it was something I thought I wouldn't be able to do or be interested in. But there are always new ideas to explore with our good teacher and collaborative group. The patterns we learn are echoed in nature and I found I've discovered a sense of wonder which we tend to lose after childhood - that of looking and seeing the beauty of the world around us.
NF wrote on completion of her Beginners Course Oct/Nov 2017: First of all I want to say that I’m very grateful because I have had the opportunity to know a beautiful person who inspires me and who teaches me how to find CALM and she helps me to realize that I can do more than I imagined. I want to thank Heather for being an amazing teacher and person.
Loving Zentangle from the first class and I’ve just finished the Beginner Course!! I’m continuing the Intermediate 1 and I want to know more and more of this relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images and again thanks to Heather for how she teaches, you can really get to know how Zentangle works.
GS wrote on completion of her Beginners Course Oct/Nov 2017: Heather ensures we have a relaxing time, focussing on the moment and passing on her skills at drawing. From the first lesson I have been able to produce patterns I am proud of. It is very satisfying.
JC wrote on completion of her Intermediate 1 Course Oct/Nov 2017: A colourful and engaging journey along the path from 'I can't' towards 'I can' and 'I will'. A delightful mix of fun and learning with a newfound group of friends. Who knew a simple 3½ piece of card and a black pen could give so much pleasure !
DP wrote on completion of her Intermediate 1 Course Oct/Nov 2017: A really chilled environment created to enable calm creativity. The different methods of background inspiration can be fun, calming and heart-warming. Heather is a gifted teacher and after being taught two courses by her, I'm so pleased we will be progressing further.
AK wrote on completion of her Intermediate 1 Course Oct/Nov 2017: What can I say about the Intermediate Course ? Wow !! Colour !! Another wonderful 6 weeks of pure enjoyment. I would also like to tell you this is a full work out for your brain. If you can't draw, but like Art, come along for fun and friendship. You won't regret it.
JC wrote on completion of her Beginners Course Aug/Sept 2017: Heather has a rare quality in a teacher - the ability to listen as well as speak. A thoroughly enjoyable course with lots to learn about oneself as well as Zentangle. A great journey from 'I can't draw' to 'I can do it !'
AH wrote on completion of her Beginners Course Aug/Sept 2017: I started this course to keep a friend company. Co-incidentally it was at a very distressing time of my life. I needed something to enable me to step away from the 'everyday' for a while. This course has enabled me to learn a new appreciation of the beauty and pattern that surrounds us in this world. At the same time I get so absorbed in what we create that I AM able to step away from the everyday stresses and strains of life for a precious couple of hours within this supportive group.
DP wrote on completion of her Beginners Course Aug/Sept 2017: I really look forward to every session of Heather teaching Zentangle drawing. She creates a peaceful oasis with calm, unhurried teaching. Heather gives encouragement rather than pressure, making a relaxing environment.
AK wrote on completion of her Beginners Course Aug/Sept 2017: I was attending the North Bristol Art trail when I met Heather and we started chatting and we got on well. She told me that she had just become a Zentangle teacher and I was intrigued. Heather was looking for a venue. I offered her the venue [Horfield United Reform Church hall] and the rest is history!! The Beginners course lasted 6 weeks. I enjoyed it from the word GO. Quiet, calm, nothing wrong, one stroke at a time - and intricate and exciting patterns are soon created. No pressure - all your own work - doing something for YOU. Heather is a very good teacher, explaining very calmly and patiently, and drawing so we can see it all on the screen. If you would like 2 hours of art, friendship and a very interesting hobby please come along - it is for everyone - even if you 'can't even draw a stick man!'
